Glad Soaring Bird
FEB 18, 2023
I just completed a new choral work, "Glad Soaring Bird," a commission for Capital High School Choirs ensemble "Volare". It will premiere at their upcoming appearance at NAfME "All-NW" conference (February 18, 2023), under the direction of Joie Cariaga. The piece is scored for SATB choir and piano, with a theme of reaching boldy for your dreams with joy and trust.
University of Iowa Guest Instructor
I will visit University of Iowa's choral department for a series of lectures in undergraduate conducting (Rehearsal technique and score study), graduate conducting (Laban movement) and Choral Repertoire (women composers, commissioning new works), as well as serving as guest composer/clinician for my newly arranged SATB/piano version of "Song Has a Bird for Rhythm".
All-City Choir of Salem
FEB 24-25, 2023
I will conduct the All-City Choir of Salem-Keizer School District. This is an auditioned, competitive ensemble in one of Oregon's most vibrant choral communities.
Seattle University Group Composition Residency
I facilitated a group composition project with three Seattle University Choirs alongside DCA Leann Conley-Holcom. Covering such topics as text, permissions, melody, harmony, engraving, accompaniments and more, the collaboration culminated with the world premiere of Twin Stars, created by SU students and premiered on December 2, 2022.
